Opening Night Orchestra Classical Saturday, June 24, 7 p.m. Silent Auction Night
The Strings 30th Anniversary Festival season opens with a night of Baroque favorites by Handel and Bach. Music Director Michael Sachs is featured on the Neruda Trumpet Concerto, with Martin Chalifour, Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, leading the Strings Festival Orchestra.
The program features two concertos, which are large pieces for orchestra, usually with over three parts. Bach's Brandenbug Concerto No. 3 is one of the most famous baroque concertos because it is so exciting, inventive, and offers a lot of solo opportunities. The Neruda Trumpet Concerto, features the trumpet's incredible range and is performed by our Music Director, Michael Sachs.
