Ben Sollee & Kentucky Native
 Saturday, July 15, 7 p.m.

Kentucky-born cellist Ben Sollee's music is difficult to pin down. He transitions seamlessly from Appalachian Mountain Music, to classical, to blues. Its Ben's quality of narrative and presence on stage that unifies his musical influences. Sollee has composed score for the documentary film Maidentrip, performed at Carnegie Hall as part of a tribute to Paul Simon, toured through Europe, and returned to the United States to perform with the Charlotte Ballet. Ben's music can be heard on ABC's Parenthood, HBO's Weeds and the film Killing Season starring John Travolta and Robert De Niro, among others.

"Sollee shares himself completely with his audience, whether it be by personal lyrics, or his commitment to the environment. Sollee can often be found riding a bicycle to his concerts (cello strapped to the back), which have become legendary for their intimacy." -The Carolina Theatre
